Never give up! This must be the mantra of every beauty junkie looking for that elusive holy grail foundation. We’ll, my search continued this week with new Estee Lauder and Milani foundations.

EL Double Wear Light (4.0), Milani HD Lip (Romantic Rose); no finishing powder or bronzer

Estee Lauder Double Wear added a “Light” foundation to the line ($34). I picked up a sample at Macy’s in 4.0 (a shade too dark, it turns out) and immediately rushed home to apply it before going out that night. The product is a little thick and required shaking and tapping to come out. It gave decent coverage, but felt heavy on the skin and oxidized by the time I got home a few hours later. I think the Double Wear Light is o.k., but I miss the radiance of Chanel Vitalumiere or Lancome Teint Miracle.

Milani Even-Tone Foundation (02 Fresco)

Milani Even-Tone Powder Foundation ($8.99) gives a sheer veil of coverage. Using the included sponge gave more coverage than a brush application, however you could still see my face full of freckles and melasma. I like the matte finish and it feels weightless on, but it’s too light of coverage for my comfort level at work or going out. But, on a Saturday? Or a perfectly clear skin day? This could work!

While foundation shopping, I picked up a new Milani product: HD Advanced Lip Color ($6.99). The Romantic Rose shade is a dupe for Chanel Chintz lipstick — a beautiful peachy-pink-rose. On my lips, it takes on more of the pinkish hue. Milani is a tad sheerer than Chanel, likely due to its moisturizing formula, and it feels absolutely wonderful on. I’ll be back for more shades!
